I'm Mr. Snow Miser
Mood:  irritated
Topic: Life in General

Wow...I'm a bad blogger!!

Today, I have a rant for you..

Why is it that every cartoon ever made is being redone into a live action movie? These shows tend to be inferior copies of the originals.

Exhibit 1: How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I didn't need to know the background of the Grinch. The moral of the story is that Christmas is about being with those you love. I don't care why the Grinch hated Christmas. It doesn't add to the story. Plus, how could they remake "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" without Thurl Ravenscroft?

Exhibit 2: Garfield, The Movie. Live action dog, CG Cat...nuf said.

VS

The latest? The Year Without A Santa Claus. UGH!!! I am so angry. This is one of my faves and they had to remake it with John Goodman as Santa. I just know they are going to screw this one up!

Wow...it's been awhile
Mood:  hungry
Topic: Life in General

I've been busy...what can I say? My life has been rehearsal-work, rehearsal-work. Pretty mind numbing. I'm in rehearsals right now for Kiss Me Kate. I get two lines and a solo...woo hoo :)  I'm marching in the Holt Hometown Parade tomorrow for publicity in full Renaissance gear. I'll have to post the pictures from that. Rehearsals are stressful, but fun.

I'm enjoying my work as well. The staff and volunteers are very nice. I may be getting some students to give me a hand as well. The only thing that isn't fun is the overnights, but I'm getting used to them.

In addition to these committments, I've decided to add one more thing to the mix. I am converting to Catholicism. Yes...that's right...I have decided to become a Catholic. Those classes start Sept. 12 and last until May.

I also plan to audition for the local chorus. They rehearse on Monday nights. Sounds fun right!

I plan to be busy busy busy...but I like it that way.

Kiss Me!!
Mood:  cheeky
Now Playing: Quantum Leap
Topic: Life in General
Well...things are looking up. I auditioned for Kiss Me Kate and made the cut. I'm in the ensemble, which is still pretty cool. Rehearsals start July 10th. At that time, we will be fitted for costumes and bit parts will be handed out. I just hope that my new schedule at work, which also starts July 10th, will give me enough time to rehearse. I think that I'll be fine though. Other that this, nothing else is new. My last day of work is June 30th...or later today, whichever you prefer. I'm a little scared and a lot excited to be moving on after so long in the same position. I am looking forward to the next chapter in my life.

My New Job
Mood:  lucky
Now Playing: Man of La Mancha
Topic: work
Today I accepted a position at Loaves and Fishes homeless shelter. I will be a guest advocate and I hope to connect the shelter to the community resources that are available. It may lead to bigger and better things in the future, but I am so thankful for having a job right now. Thank-you to all of you who kept me in your thoughts and prayers.

A hunting we will go!
Mood:  spacey
Topic: Life in General
Well...I can officially say that job hunting stinks!! I have been on four interviews and still have no job. I haven't heard back from two of the companies I interviewed for, so I can't say that I have no prospects. I only have two weeks left before I officially have no job and need to run over to the unemployment office to apply for assistance. I really do not want to do this, but I will if I have to.

I have been busy working on my little pet project and have finally put it on the web. Here is the link for all who want to see it.

Good news and bad news
Mood:  down
Topic: work
Let me start with the bad news...

Today I found out that, as of July 1st, I will be out of a job. We lost some funding and they decided that I needed to go. It really sux because I have the most seniority in the program, but I'm the first to go when push comes to shove.

Alright, let's get to the good news...

I have my first interview with the House Fiscal Agency for the position of Legislative Analyst. Everyone wish me luck because I would really like this job. It would be a great opportunity for me to get my foot in the door.

I will keep everyone posted with updates on my excellerated job search.

As promised, I have provided the links for all of you who want to play the old games. I spent a couple of hours playing such classic nintendo games as paperboy, micromachines, super mario bros, and wallstreet kid (thanks mom). Each time I played another game, I was taken back to the times when Mike and I would bike to the video store and rent a game then run home and play it for hours. *sings* memories...like the corners of my mind...misty, water colored memories...of the way we were.

This weekend has been really busy for me. Yesterday, I went to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. It was an excellent production starring Patrick Cassidy as Joseph. The MSU Children's Choir did a great job. Even Dan had a good time.

On another note, I have been reliving my childhood. I found Apple II, Nintendo, and Commodore 64 emulators and have been playing games from my childhood. Oregon Trail took me back to the days when I had to book time at the library to use a computer. Sorry Mike and Kate...you both died of dysentery. I'll post some links later for all of you that want a piece of your childhood on today's technology.

This is the coolest day ever!!!
Mood:  happy
Topic: Life in General
Anyone who knows me can see my obsession with Star Trek: TNG. I have all 7 seasons on DVD. I know all the episodes by heart. I used to watch them when I was a kid and I still watch them whenever I get the chance. A couple of years ago, I got to meet Marina Sirtis (Counselor Troi) and I obtained her autograph. Today I got to meet the man behind my favorite character, Brent Spiner (Lt. Cmmr. Data)!!! I went to the Motor City Comic Convention and had a blast. Not only did I get to sit in the front row when Brent had his dialogue with an audience (I was so close to him I could have reached out my hand and touch him), but I got to get his autograph and a picture with him!!!!!!!! How cool is that?? He was really funny and shared a lot during his question and answer session. His stories were awesome and he seems like a really nice guy.

I also got to meet Julie Newmar and get her autograph. For all that don't know her, she played Catwoman on the old Batman series and was in 7 Brides for 7 Brothers among other things. She was very very nice.

I have posted pictures for everyone to see and enjoy!!

Pictures of Graduation
Here are my proofs of my graduation pictures. Not liking the one with the flags much. I did order 4 5x7s of the one where I'm getting the diploma.
