A hunting we will go!
Mood:  spacey
Topic: Life in General
Well...I can officially say that job hunting stinks!! I have been on four interviews and still have no job. I haven't heard back from two of the companies I interviewed for, so I can't say that I have no prospects. I only have two weeks left before I officially have no job and need to run over to the unemployment office to apply for assistance. I really do not want to do this, but I will if I have to.

I have been busy working on my little pet project and have finally put it on the web. Here is the link for all who want to see it.

Good news and bad news
Mood:  down
Topic: work
Let me start with the bad news...

Today I found out that, as of July 1st, I will be out of a job. We lost some funding and they decided that I needed to go. It really sux because I have the most seniority in the program, but I'm the first to go when push comes to shove.

Alright, let's get to the good news...

I have my first interview with the House Fiscal Agency for the position of Legislative Analyst. Everyone wish me luck because I would really like this job. It would be a great opportunity for me to get my foot in the door.

I will keep everyone posted with updates on my excellerated job search.

As promised, I have provided the links for all of you who want to play the old games. I spent a couple of hours playing such classic nintendo games as paperboy, micromachines, super mario bros, and wallstreet kid (thanks mom). Each time I played another game, I was taken back to the times when Mike and I would bike to the video store and rent a game then run home and play it for hours. *sings* memories...like the corners of my mind...misty, water colored memories...of the way we were.

This weekend has been really busy for me. Yesterday, I went to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. It was an excellent production starring Patrick Cassidy as Joseph. The MSU Children's Choir did a great job. Even Dan had a good time.

On another note, I have been reliving my childhood. I found Apple II, Nintendo, and Commodore 64 emulators and have been playing games from my childhood. Oregon Trail took me back to the days when I had to book time at the library to use a computer. Sorry Mike and Kate...you both died of dysentery. I'll post some links later for all of you that want a piece of your childhood on today's technology.

This is the coolest day ever!!!
Mood:  happy
Topic: Life in General
Anyone who knows me can see my obsession with Star Trek: TNG. I have all 7 seasons on DVD. I know all the episodes by heart. I used to watch them when I was a kid and I still watch them whenever I get the chance. A couple of years ago, I got to meet Marina Sirtis (Counselor Troi) and I obtained her autograph. Today I got to meet the man behind my favorite character, Brent Spiner (Lt. Cmmr. Data)!!! I went to the Motor City Comic Convention and had a blast. Not only did I get to sit in the front row when Brent had his dialogue with an audience (I was so close to him I could have reached out my hand and touch him), but I got to get his autograph and a picture with him!!!!!!!! How cool is that?? He was really funny and shared a lot during his question and answer session. His stories were awesome and he seems like a really nice guy.

I also got to meet Julie Newmar and get her autograph. For all that don't know her, she played Catwoman on the old Batman series and was in 7 Brides for 7 Brothers among other things. She was very very nice.

I have posted pictures for everyone to see and enjoy!!

Pictures of Graduation
Here are my proofs of my graduation pictures. Not liking the one with the flags much. I did order 4 5x7s of the one where I'm getting the diploma.

I Graduated!!
Mood:  celebratory
Topic: school
I finally did it!! I graduated with my master's in social work. I went to two ceremonies yesterday and I am exhausted. Right now it is starting to sink in that I don't have any more school. In essence, I have been in school for 24 years. I'm really going to miss the experiences and the friends that I have made over the last two years. I am of two minds right now...the excited one that sees the possiblities in front of me and the depressed one that remembers the past and is scared about what the future holds. I think every graduate goes through these moods and it's normal (ok Miss Social Worker...enough with the analysis). Here are some moments from the graduations. I hope to post more pictures later. C-Ya!!

This weekend was very busy for me. I went to New York City on Saturday to protest the war in Iraq. It was pretty amazing, but very tiring. I went with a group from Kalamazoo. We left at 9pm on Friday and got into New York on Saturday morning. All 300,000 of us marchers went down Broadway to Foley Square. There was a rally and I got to see what all sorts of other groups are doing. At 6pm we got back on the bus and headed over to Ground Zero. I've seen it twice before and it still seems very sacred. We saw a plane fly over (well near) the area and it really sent chills down your spine. We left for home at around 8pm and made it into Michigan early the next morning. I'm still tired!! Dan and I went to see the movie United 93. It was really good. I thought that the diretor managed to capture the horror of the day and the courage of the passengers and crew without being cruel. It was respectful and real. Highly recommended movie! Anyway, I have included some pictures from Yahoo.com news of the march to give you some idea of the scale. I hope to eventually post the pictures of my sign, which was pretty popular. Hopefully, we can end this soon so that more people won't have to pay the price for the questionable decisions of our leaders.

I DID IT!!! I finally got my resume out today. Just as I became on the brink of despair, I found a job posting that I liked. I sent my resume over to the Office of Senator Gretchen Whitmer. She's looking for a Director of Constituent Relations doing things that I've already done, but in a different context. The job would be a huge stepping stone into the political world and I really hope I get an interview. Everyone wish me luck and I hope that I can write another happy post.
